GNL Quintero

GNL Quintero provides clean, efficient and safe energy to central Chile

Our company plays a fundamental role in the country's energy security.

We receive energy from multiple global sources and deliver it to Chilean homes and industries.

Our Terminal has the best available technology for receiving, storing and regasifying Liquefied Natural Gas.

We work in harmony with the environment, handling one of the cleanest and most efficient energy sources.

We comply with the highest safety standards in the design, construction and operation of our Terminal.

We put our energy to work for the development of Quintero and its people.

GNL Quintero is committed to Sustainability.

The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) which is received from ships and stored in the Terminal's storage tanks is subsequently sent to the regasification area that is equipped with Vaporizers, used to restore the LNG to its original gaseous state and inject it into the pipeline network.

The GNL Quintero Terminal has four Vaporizers, each with a regasification capacity of approximately 5 million m3/day. Three of these are Open Rack Vaporizers (ORV), which are used for normal operation. The last of these was inaugurated in March 2015 as part of the project to expand the Terminal's regasification capacity to 15 million m3/day.

The fourth vaporizer is a Submerged Combustion Vaporizer (SCV), which operates as back-up for the system (for example, during programmed maintenance or in the event of a breakdown of the Open Rack Vaporizers).

The Open Rack Vaporizers (ORV) consist of panels through which the Liquefied Natural Gas circulates and which are showered with sea water at ambient temperature (between 12º and 18º Celsius). As the LNG is at -160° Celsius, the sea water warms it sufficiently to transform it back into natural gas.
