Awards and Recognition

In its brief history, GNL Quintero's performance has been recognized and distinguished by prestigious, specialized institutions, in Chile and abroad.

Emblematic work for the development of Chile

GNL Quintero's main role is to contribute to the country's energy security, and this objective was highlighted by the Chilean Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (Cigré), which in 2010 distinguished the company as an "Emblematic Work".

In the same spirit, the Association of Companies of the Valparaíso Region (ASIVA) awarded GNL Quintero the 2010 Prize for "Industrial Development".

International bond highlighted by the market

In July 2014, GNL Quintero placed a 15-year international bond for US$1,100 million at a spread of 212.5 basis points over 10-year Treasuries, equivalent to an effective interest rate of 4.634%. Market interest in the bond, placed to refinance debt, was such that orders reached close to US$5,000 million.

The operation was highlighted as one of the most important of the year in the Financial Leaders Prizes awarded by the Diario Financiero newspaper and Deloitte, with Banchile City Global Markets, its global coordinator and underwriter, receiving the prize for Best International or Mixed Bond of the year.

AmCham Good Corporate Citizenship Prize (2013–2015)

The Good Corporate Citizenship Prize, awarded by the Chilean-North American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), is one of the most important in the industry for social responsibility and seeks to recognize, highlight and promote best practices in community engagement and development.

GNL Quintero has received this prize twice. In 2015, it was awarded to the Company for its part in the Quintero Vive (Quintero Lives) program, a platform of urban renewal projects implemented jointly with the town's municipal government. Previously, in 2013, it received the prize for its work in generating Development Strategies with the Quintero Fishing Bays.

Both projects were highlighted as examples of an innovative and inclusive approach that addresses local development from an integral perspective.

Recognition for Corporate Social Responsibility policies

For three consecutive years (2009, 2010 and 2011), the Association of Companies of the Valparaíso Region has awarded GNL Quintero the "Corporate Social Responsibility Prize", in recognition of the company's work with the community, which includes initiatives like the Apprentices Programme, the construction of the Loncura Civic Centre and the development of the Competitive Funds Programme.

Honorable Mention in Fundación PROHumana Sustainability Ranking

In 2015, GNL Quintero participated for the first time in Fundación PROHumana's Corporate Sustainability Ranking, one of the most respected rankings of its type in Chile. The Company took 13th place out of almost 30 companies, earning an Honorable Mention.

The Sustainability Ranking is the result of a comprehensive and rigorous measurement process in which companies must explain - and also demonstrate - how they address the different challenges that sustainability implies for a company and how this is reflected in their activities, including not only corporate governance but also operations, risk prevention, the environment and relations with the community and employees.

Fundación PROHumana's Sustainability Ranking is an initiative that seeks to foster corporate sustainability through a management model that incorporates it "rooted in the company's business strategy and with application in the daily operations of all those who form part of the company."

"More for Chile" Seal

Our work with the fishermen of Quintero over more than two years, the principal fruit of which is the generation of Economic Development Strategies for the fishing coves in the district, has been one of the company's proudest achievements in community relations. In 2013, this programme received the More For Chile Seal, awarded by the Ministry of Social Development in recognition of its contribution to creating more and better opportunities for overcoming poverty and for social integration.

Recognition of concern for safety

In 2015, GNL Quintero received the Annual Workplace Safety and Health Prize of the Asociación Chilena de Seguridad, in the category of mid-sized companies. Over 270 companies competed for this prize awarded by a jury that included representatives of the government, workers, companies and organizations devoted to workers' safety and quality of life. Through this prize, the Asociación Chilena de Seguridad (ACHS) seeks to draw attention to the winning companies' safety and risk prevention management and results and their efforts to create an internal culture that ensures safe and healthy workplaces.

In addition, Chile's National Safety Council, an organization that brings together government bodies, specialized institutions and companies that place particular emphasis on risk prevention, awarded GNL Quintero its Rosalino Fuentes Silva Prize in the category of Hernán Henríquez Bastidas Company for its positive results on safety. Similarly, the Association of Companies of the Fifth Region awarded the Company its 2015 ASIVA Prize in the safety category.

In 2015, the jury of Fundación Carlos Vial Espantoso selected GNL Quintero for the ACHS Preventive Management Prize, a recognition awarded to the company that stands out for its care for the lives and safety of its workers and for creating a culture geared to the prevention of risks.

In 2014, GNL Quintero also received important recognitions in this area from government bodies, companies and specialized organizations. From the government, it received the prestigious Tucapel González García Prize for Workplace Safety and Health Management in the mid-sized company category, awarded by the Superintendency of Social Security (SUSESO), for its excellence in safety and risk prevention. This is one of the most important prizes in this area.

In addition, it was awarded the National Safety Council Prize for maintaining a zero accidentability rate since the start of its operations and also received a special recognition from the ACHS as one of the finalists for its Annual Workplace Safety and Health Prize.

In 2014, the Company was also awarded the 2014 ASIVA Prize in recognition of its zero accidentability rate since the start of its operations.

In 2012, GNL Quintero received the ACHS Prize of Honor for its excellent safety results during the previous three years. This is the highest prize that a company can receive from the ACHS for its performance on the prevention of accidents and workplace illnesses and is a recognition of the work undertaken and results achieved in this area.

One of the best companies to work for in Chile, according to Great Place to Work

On four occasions, GNL Quintero has been included in the Great Place to Work's Ranking of the 25 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work for in Chile. It took 19th place in 2011 and 11th in 2013, before reaching 4th place in 2014 and 7th in 2015. This position among the top ten reflects the Company's constant efforts to create a proper working environment, accompanied by the best conditions for its employees, thereby helping to foster their commitment to the Company's values.

Honorable Mention in Carlos Vial Espantoso Prize

In 2015, GNL Quintero participated in the Carlos Vial Espantoso Prize for the first time, obtaining one of the two Honorable Mentions. This prize is one of the most important in Chile in the area of human resources and labor relations.

Excellence as Health-Promoting Workplace

The Valparaíso Regional Office of the Health Ministry (SEREMI) has recognized GNL Quintero as having achieved excellence as a Health-Promoting Workplace. This accreditation, awarded by the Labor and Health Ministries, seeks to encourage implementation of initiatives that promote health beyond the prevention of workplace illnesses and tend to strengthen the wellbeing of employees in their workplaces.

GNL Quintero is the only company from the Quintero Bay and only the second in the Valparaíso Region to have received this important recognition.

Founder of the Ibero American Conference on Operational Excellence in LNG Terminals

This association, created in Quintero in 2011, brings together the LNG Regasification and Liquefaction Terminals of Ibero America to exchange technical experiences, best practices and continuous improvement in order to promote operational safety and excellence in the industry.

Seal of Energy Efficiency

In 2014, the Ministry of Energy awarded GNL Quintero its 2014 Energy Efficiency Seal, an important recognition given by the government to those companies that have worked to improve the energy performance of their processes through policies, management tools, projects and initiatives that seek to increase the efficiency of their energy consumption.

GNL Quintero has implemented initiatives that include the adoption of high energy-saving standards for the construction of new infrastructure, the implementation of energy efficiency campaigns among its work teams and, principally, its efforts towards ISO 50001 certification, which it obtained in 2015. This latter called for the development of an energy management system that includes a portfolio of both energy-saving and self-generation projects.

GNL Quintero was also awarded the ASIVA Prize for Safety in 2012.

Outstanding environmental initiative

Once construction of the Terminal was completed, GNL Quintero developed an Ecological Restoration Project in the Terminal, which included planting native plant species to help to control erosion and recover the landscape. This pioneering project earned it the ASIVA Environment Prize in 2012.

Loncura Civic Centre: an outstanding initiative for environmental mitigation

The construction of the Loncura Civic Centre faithfully reflects GNL Quintero's spirit of community work, firstly because it exceeds the compensation demanded in the environmental assessment, and secondly because it was designed with high quality architecture and the active participation of the Municipality of Quintero and community organisations.

As a result, the Loncura Civic Centre was recognised by the Environmental Assessment Service in 2012 as an outstanding Measure for mitigation, compensation and repair.

Project Finance recognized by the market

In June 2008, GNL Quintero obtained a long term Project Finance syndicated loan for US$ 1.057 billion with 14 international financial institutions. The favourable terms obtained, the size of the loan and the importance of this national-interest project earned GNL Quintero the "Americas Oil & Gas Deal of the Year 2008" from Project Finance International and the "Latin America Oil & Gas Deal of the Year 2008" from Euro Money.

Contribution to the world LNG industry in 2010

In 2010, GNL Quintero was selected as runner-up of the "Contribution to the LNG Industry 2010" award by the CWC Group and World Gas Intelligence (WGI), who provide such recognition at their yearly industry-wide meeting.

Technological innovation in tank construction

In 2010, the Chilean Cement and Concrete Institute (ICH) awarded GNL Quintero the "Technology Application" prize, highlighting the use of this material in the construction of its LNG storage tanks, where high standards of strength, homogeneity and durability are required.

Best public-private initiative 2009

The Diario Financiero newspaper awarded GNL Quintero the prize for "Best Public-Private Initiative 2009". The newspaper makes this award on the basis of a vote organised among its subscribers.

Best use of government work programmes

In 2009, the Regional Ministerial Secretariat for Work and Social Security of the Valparaiso Region awarded GNL Quintero in recognition of its outstanding application of the Job Development and Presidential Measures Plan.

The outstanding actions under this plan were those of the Apprentices Programme, which provides training and job opportunities for young people from Quintero and Puchuncaví.
